Arsenic exists in two oxidative states in water: arsenite(III) and arsenate (V). Arsenite has a valence of +3, also referred to as “trivalent” arsenic, while Arsenate has a valence of +5 referred to a “pentavalent”. When using anion exchange to treat for arsenic it’s important to know what species is present in the water as most media will only remove arsenate. Arsenic present in the arsenite form, must be oxidized into arsenate in order for anion exchange to completely remove all the arsenic present. Reverse osmosis has similar limitations.

ResinTech now offers a cost-effective test for arsenic speciation, so you can be sure about your treatment application.

Testing kit includes a filtration kit to field filter samples and separate the species of arsenic. Lab analysis typically takes about 5 – 7 business days and reports are emailed upon completion.
