ResinTech Collects Books for BookSmiles

CAMDEN, NJ —  ResinTech, a global leader in ion exchange for water and fluid purification, announced it completed its first company-wide book drive in partnership with BookSmiles, a local organization dedicated to promoting literacy by giving books to children throughout Philadelphia and New Jersey.

The idea began when BookSmiles founder, Larry Abrams, came across an article in SJ Magazine that highlighted the ResinTech’s charitable work and CEO Jeff Gottlieb’s desire to make a meaningful positive impact on the lives of its employees and its local community. Abrams said he reached out to Gottlieb, “I told them I was really impressed by their desire to make a difference in the community, I told him about our organization and asked what we could do to work together. Jeff mentioned that his wife, Laura, is part of a volunteer program that reads to underprivileged children, and so the idea of a book drive seemed like a natural fit.”

ResinTech kicked off the festivities in April with an employee art contest. The submissions were voted upon by all the employees and the winner took their idea from paper to paint, applying their design to the book drive collection bin in the ResinTech lobby.

During the month of May the company was able to collect over 500 books. At the conclusion, employees were invited to an on-site book fair complete with games and refreshments. Best of all, each employee was allowed to take home five books for free. The remaining books were collected by BookSmiles and distributed amongst the local community.

“There are a lot of new faces at our company since our new Camden factory opened, but at the end of the day we still think of ResinTech as a big family.” Gottlieb said. “Promoting literacy is so important and access to books is obviously an essential component. So I’m really proud of how our entire team rose to the occasion for a great cause. This initiative was a lot of fun and I’m thrilled by how it benefited both our employees and the community.”

Since it was founded in 2017, BookSmiles has provided students, teachers, and younger siblings with high-quality new or gently used books, laying the groundwork for academic success. With almost two dozen book donation stations sprinkled throughout Southern NJ and Philadelphia, they have collected nearly 1,000,000 books.

As ResinTech continues to grow and expand its operations, they look forward to a bright future together in this community.
